I feel like House of Suns has got better character development (a smaller selection of characters helps, I think). Also, Revelation Space was I think his 1st published novel, whereas House of Suns was well into his career, so his writing style probably is a bit more devleoped. Author Alistair Reynolds isn't afraid of big, strange ideas, and he puts on a parade of them in House of Suns.
